Pickering War Weekend may not be happening but fear not!
Brylcream your hair, don your best hat, and dress to impress as you step back in time and immerse yourself in the vibrant spirit of the 1940s at Eden Camp! Get ready for a weekend filled with nostalgic fun, lively music, and the charm of a bygone era. Buzzing with activity. At Eden Camp you’ll discover something different around every corner as you explore the 22 original prisoner of war huts. Our displays capture the humour, sacrifice and spirit of a nation at war . Discover the personal tributes and unique stories of some of the individuals throughout the war.
It’s the perfect setting for you to get into the 1940s spirit, with everything from the outbreak of World War II and the Dig For Victory and Make Do and Mend campaigns, to the vintage military vehicles in the heritage hall.

Marvel at the beautifully restored vehicles from the 1940s, a treat for vintage car enthusiasts and history buffs alike. These iconic machines will transport you back to a time when style and functionality ruled the roads.

RAF Bomber Command Briefings:
See WW2 Operations in action! Join a Bomber Command Briefing, as RAF Hawksmere, plan their operation in the Puppet Theatre.
Dancing & Live Music: Put on your dancing shoes and get ready to swing! Our event features live music performances that capture the essence of the 1940s.
Immersive Experience: Become part of the story! This event is a unique opportunity to enjoy the glamour and celebrate 1940s fashion and culture. Engage with reenactors, participate in themed activities, and truly live the era.
1940s Night Out: Put on your glad rags and get ready for a swinging night out with the best of wartime and post-wartime entertainment.
Winston Churchill – Addresses the Nation
Throughout the weekend watch, and hear across the Eden Camp tannoy, as Winston Churchill address the nation as Britain faces War. Lookalike Derek Herbert uniquely captures both the appearance and the distinctive voice of the wartime leader. Derek’s performances consistently leave audiences spellbound, as evidenced by the glowing testimonials he regularly receives.
Yorkshire Bus Bar
The Yorkshire bus bar will be open for the duration of the event, plus a bar in the heritage hall overlooking the our heritage vehicles with seating and tables with live music performances on stage on Saturday night, at the 1940s Tea Dance.

1940s Tea Dance
Saturday 12 October 6pm ‘till 10.30pm. Entry included in the day ticket.
Saturday Evening only tickets £10 per person Entry from 5pm.
Step back in time and immerse yourself in the elegance of a 1940s Evening Tea Dance! Join us from 6:30pm to 10:30pm for a night of vintage charm and timeless melodies. Our live bands will transport you to the golden era with swing, jazz, and big band tunes that will have you gliding across the dance floor. Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or just looking to soak in the atmosphere, this is an evening of nostalgia and grace you won’t want to miss. Dust off your best vintage attire and join us for a night to remember at our 1940s Evening Tea Dance! Our bar will be open from 11am to 10:30pm on Saturday.
Headliners: The Bluebirds
Times: 2000-2045 & 2145-2230
Dance the night away to this close harmony trio passionate about keeping the vintage 1940s sound alive. Whether it’s a modern twist on a juke-box hit or sticking to the good’ole war-time classics, The Bluebirds will be on hand to have you dancing the night away.
Support: Hep to the Jive
Times: 1800-1840, 1900-1940, 2100-2140
A unique 5-piece band, playing a selection of classic songs, from some of the biggest names in musical history. Hep to the jive create an authentic, sophisticated atmosphere that will have you up on the dance floor boogying the night away.

All visitors to the museum are invited to join in with the fun and get dressed up in either civilian or military period clothing. All weapons (including but not limited to deactivated rifles, blank firing weapons, knives, bayonets) are NOT permitted on site. Costume must be respectful and SS/Gestapo uniform (or similar) is strictly prohibited. We respectfully request in light of current events for visitors/reenactors to avoid Russian attire/equipment of any kind. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
