On Sunday 13th September, Eden Camp, the modern history museum in Malton, North Yorkshire hosted an All Services Parade, bringing together over 600 veterans, military associations and organisations from across the UK for a day of remembrance, respect, and celebration of service.
The museum gates opened at 10am, with Eden Camp offering free admission to serving members of His Majesty’s Armed Forces, veterans, members of the Emergency Services, civilian organisations supporting HM Forces, members of the Royal British Legion (RBL), and other military veterans’ associations, organisations, and charities.
Nick Hill, Museum Manager at Eden Camp, said “The All Services Parade was a fitting opportunity to come together to reflect and remember those who have served and made the ultimate sacrifice, while also recognising and celebrating the contribution of those who continue to serve our control. It was a privilege to see so many people united in remembrance and respect.”
The highlight of the day was the All Services Parade, which began at 2.25pm, featuring the Yorkshire Volunteers Marching Band, followed by Standards, Veterans, and Cadet Forces
The parade moved off and covered 250 metres on a flat concrete and tarmac surface, followed by a solemn Service of Remembrance. During this service, the Standards were dipped as the Last Post was sounded, and a Minute’s Silence was observed in honour of those who have given their lives in service.
The event reflected Eden Camp’s wider role in preserving history and sharing stories and experiences of those affected by conflict. Through its exhibitions and events, the modern history museum allows visitors to engage with and learn about the military experiences that have shaped our history.
