Things aren’t slowing down in the run up to Easter here at the museum.
We are happy to report that we took delivery of a very special 1941 Austin 10 ‘Tilly’ Utility Truck that has been lovingly conserved by television’s Car SOS team. The ‘old truck’, owned by Ted Richardson had been used for over 60 years on his farm and had fallen into disrepair before his family called on the skills of Tim and Fuzz from Car SOS. Tilly will be on display over summer and you can watch part of the episode here.
Work has started by our amazing team of volunteers on our motorcycle and side car, which looks like it might be a Russian IMZ M-72 (not the Chinese CJ-750 we thought it was), and progress too has been made on our M-50 Super Sherman Tank which now has an operating turret.
We’ve also got 3 more vehicles on display in our collection; a second Austin Tilly and 2 American Jeeps (thank you Simon and Chris). Believe it or not there’s even more to come too!
With the school holidays spread out so much this year we’ve been running our Easter Fun event since the end of March and it will carry on right up until 28th April. We’ve rolled out the traditional games, dressing up and we’ve also got our Wartime Easter Egg Hunt.
We’re stepping things up for the bank holiday weekend with another of our WW2 Living History events and we’re asking visitors to get involved too, by coming in your best period costume. There’ll be live demonstrations, wartime sing-a-longs, an Easter Sunday church service and much more.
