Award Winning Museum hosts 1940s dance evening bringing the museum to life after dark!

This October, Eden Camp is hosting a 1940s Jive Night to celebrate the end of the season in its 80th year. This will be the first evening event open to the public held in the new Heritage Hall and promises to be a fantastic night of live music and entertainment. The evening will be on Saturday 8th October from 6pm until 11pm.

The new Heritage Hall, primarily used to house the museum’s vast vehicle collection will be decorated in red, white, and blue, reminiscent of traditional 40s dance hall, utilising the fantastic new AV equipment including a metre wide mirror ball! The Museum will play host to the Ashby Big (little) Band providing live music from the 1940s and offering a variety of songs to dance to!

“We’re so excited to be holding a public event in the Heritage Hall amongst all the history we have in there,” Harriet Stainton, Marketing & Business Development Manager says, “Our Jive Night will be the perfect opportunity to show off our new exhibitions space and welcome 1940s fans, reenactors and anyone who wants a fun night out!

The event will align with the original dates of Pickering War Weekend which was unfortunately cancelled. With such a popular event no longer taking place, Eden Camp’s Jive Night provides a themed event catering for anyone who planned to be in the Pickering/Malton area over the weekend.

“Catering for this event will be brilliant and something different to what we would normally do!” Donna O’Brien from I Love Lucy’s Catering says, “We’re bringing a great selection for guests to enjoy, and with a traditional pie and peas supper we’re getting fully into the 1940s theme!”

The Museum itself is a part of history and the team and volunteers intend to continue the preservation and commemoration of the world wars, including all those who fought to have the life we have today. Approximately 80 years on from WW2, and it being the camp’s 80 years anniversary of being built, 2022 has been the BEST year so far!
