Rediscover Wartime Cooking with a Modern Twist
Join us at Eden Camp for Ration Week, a flavour-packed journey into the resourceful kitchens of wartime Britain — brought to life through the creativity of two outstanding local chefs.
During WWII, families across the UK had to get inventive with limited ingredients and strict rationing. For the next two weeks, starting from Monday 4 until Sunday 17 August, we’re shining a light on that ingenuity — and showing how the spirit of “making do” can still inspire delicious dishes today.
We’ve teamed up with two incredible local chefs to create two recepes, using only rationed ingredients giving them a modern day twis, that you can try at home in your own kitchen – a perfect way to keep the spirit of the ration alive!
👨‍🍳 James Mackenzie – Michelin-starred chef and owner of the renowned Pipe and Glass Inn – shares a modern twist on a wartime classic, proving that limited ingredients don’t mean limited flavour.
👨‍🍳 Adam Richardson, Head Chef at the Fox and Hounds Country Inn in Sinnington, showcases his take on a hearty, Home Front-inspired dish that’s sure to warm the spirit.
🌟 Try both exclusive recipes during your visit and experience the creativity and resilience of 1940s cooking, reimagined by today’s culinary talent.
