The Royal Signals Association will return this year for their annual parade and displays!
The Royal Corps of Signals, commonly known as the Royal Signals, is the communications and information systems corps of the British Army. Its primary role is to ensure that soldiers and commanders can communicate effectively, whether on operations, exercises, or deployments around the world. The Corps was formally established in 1920, when the growing importance of military communications led to the creation of a separate organisation dedicated to signalling. King George V later granted the Corps the “Royal” title, recognising its vital contribution to the Army.
Throughout its history, the Royal Signals has served in every major conflict involving British forces. During the Second World War, signallers played a crucial role by maintaining communication links across land, sea, and air, often under extremely dangerous conditions. Reliable communication was essential to coordinating troops, directing artillery, and supporting large-scale operations. In the decades that followed, Royal Signals personnel continued to serve in conflicts, peacekeeping missions, and overseas deployments, adapting as technology rapidly evolved.
Today, the Royal Signals operates at the forefront of modern military technology. Its soldiers are trained in radio systems, satellite communications, computer networks, cyber security, and information management. This expertise ensures that the British Army can operate effectively in a digital and information-driven battlespace. Despite the highly technical nature of the role, Royal Signals soldiers are fully trained soldiers first, capable of working alongside frontline units in demanding environments.
A significant annual event for the Royal Signals community is their parade and reunion held at the Eden Camp Modern History Museum. On 17th May, veterans, serving personnel, and supporters will gather to take part in a formal parade, remember fallen comrades, and celebrate the proud history of the Corps. The event highlights the strong sense of tradition, comradeship, and pride that continues to define the Royal Signals today.
The Parade and service is expected to start at 2pm. Please note there will be no access to and from the car park whilst the parade is ongoing.
All event activity is included in a standard admission ticket.
Subsidy available for RSA members – please contact the RSA or the Eden Camp Admin team for details.
